In the School of Health Sciences Honors Program, she partook in research for three years with an interest in imaging and evaluation of disease. Outside of coursework and research, she served as an Ambassador for the College of Health and Human Sciences, was a leader in the Health Physics Society, as well as other campus organizations. After graduation, she will be attending the University of Minnesota working toward a PhD in Medical Physics.

Olfactory impairment predicts brain atrophy in Parkinson's disease.
Olfactory dysfunction is a frequent nonmotor symptom in idiopathic Parkinson's disease (PD) and may be considered as an early clinical feature of the disease preceding motor symptoms by years. According to recent neuropathological staging concepts, impaired olfaction is assumed to indicate an early pathological process and might be associated with structural changes in the brain. A morphometric...
متن کاملHippocampal atrophy and memory dysfunction associated with physical inactivity in community‐dwelling elderly subjects: The Sefuri study
BACKGROUND Physical inactivity is one of the modifiable risk factors for hippocampal atrophy and Alzheimer's disease. We investigated the relationship between physical activity, hippocampal atrophy, and memory using structural equation modeling (SEM). MATERIALS AND METHODS We examined 213 community-dwelling elderly subjects (99 men and 114 women with a mean age of 68.9 years) without dementia...
متن کاملRegional Brain Atrophy and Functional Connectivity Changes Related to Fatigue in Multiple Sclerosis
Fatigue is one of the most frequent symptoms in multiple sclerosis (MS), and recent studies have described a relationship between the sensorimotor cortex and its afferent and efferent pathways as a substrate of fatigue. The objectives of this study were to assess the neural correlates of fatigue in MS through gray matter (GM) and white matter (WM) atrophy, and resting state functional connectiv...

متن کاملAtrophy of spared gray matter tissue predicts poorer motor recovery and rehabilitation response in chronic stroke.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Although the motor deficit after stroke is clearly due to the structural brain damage that has been sustained, this relationship is attenuated from the acute to chronic phases. We investigated the possibility that motor impairment and response to constraint-induced movement therapy in patients with chronic stroke may relate more strongly to the structural integrity of bra...
